Shuttle Fares Summary
The Essentials

Riders affiliated with member companies are eligible for the reduced member fare.

All multi-stop1 Grid routes are also open to the public at the full public fare.

The Grid is not part of the MBTA. CharlieCards and other MBTA passes aren’t accepted on our shuttles.

You can pay a single-ride full public fare in cash—exact bills/change only.

Reduced member fares and multi-ride passes are only in the Tripshot rider app.

Set up your Tripshot Wallet before riding. It speeds up payment and boarding.
- The only 128 Business Council route not open to the public is the Vox on Two shuttle, which is only open to Vox on Two residents. ↩︎

Riders affiliated with a 128 Business Council member company—usually through their
employer or through their employer’s property manager—are eligible to ride at the
reduced member fare. If you are affiliated with a 128 Business Council member
organization, follow these steps to ride at the reduced (member) rate:
1. Create your Tripshot account.
Whenever possible, use a work email that shows your organization’s domain name. You can find more instructions over on our Mobile Rider App page.
2. Is your affiliation through your employer or your employer’s property manager?
Your can refer to our current list of members to help you answer this question. If you can’t figure out, please contact us.
If your employer is a direct member of 128 Business Council: As long as you’ve created your Tripshot account using your corporate email address, you should see the reduced member fare available as soon as the sign-up process has been completed.
If your employer’s property manager is a member of 128 Business Council: Please contact your member representative to be added to their list of approved riders. You must provide your member representative with the same email address you used to created your Tripshot account. If you haven’t received information from your organization about how to contact your member representative for approval, please contact us.
If you are charged the full public fare rate while you are waiting to be approved, or if you do not see the appropriate fare reflected in your Tripshot app for any other reason, please contact us for further assistance. Member-affiliated riders who are charged incorrectly may be eligible for a Tripshot Wallet credit.
Yes, commuter benefits can be used on The Grid. Continue reading to ensure you understand your redemption options.
What are Commuter Benefits?
Commuter benefits (aka Qualified Transportation Fringe Benefits) let employees use pre-tax funds for eligible commuting costs, including 128 Business Council/The Grid shuttles. Benefits are issued by your employer in the form of a paper voucher or debit card.
How can I pay using my Commuter Benefits?
(A) Debit cards
Many commuter-benefit debit cards are not supported in the Tripshot app right now, due to ongoing IRS-related processing changes. We are working on a solution, but have no resolution timeline. If you receive benefits via debit card, contact your benefit account manager and request to receive paper vouchers instead.
(B) Paper vouchers
To redeem a paper voucher through Tripshot, mail it to us at
128 Business Council, c/o Operations Dept
1077 Lexington St, Suite 200
Waltham, MA 02452.
In order to successfully process your voucher, please follow these instructions carefully:
- Include a note with your name, the email tied to your Tripshot account, and a phone number in case we need to reach you.
- Vouchers must be payable to 128 Business Council.
- Do not sign the back of the voucher.
- Using multiple transit providers? You’ll need separate vouchers for each.
- Expired vouchers cannot be accepted.
- We cannot process your voucher by phone.
After we receive your voucher, we will credit the full amount to your Tripshot Wallet. Funds cannot be split across multiple Tripshot accounts.
Questions about your Commuter Benefits?
Please contact your HR/Benefits team or your benefit provider (e.g., HealthEquity, WageWorks, MyChoice). We cannot answer plan-specific questions.
Life happens. If you’re unable to pay at boarding, you will not be denied a trip. The driver will take your contact information as part of our Rider Responsibility program, and our team will follow up to help you avoid future issues—for example, walking you through Tripshot setup process.
While our goal is to get you back on track, we reserve the right to revoke shuttle privileges if more than three issues occur within 30 days or if you refuse to provide your name and contact information to the driver.
Our shuttles are scheduled around standard commute patterns (to work in the morning, away in the afternoon). Reverse-commute trips may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis but are not guaranteed.
Reverse-commute trips:
- are only available to riders affiliated with a member company or property.
- must be requested at least 24 hours in advance.
- apply to one specific trip on a specific day, if approved.
Riders are responsible for the applicable fare. Contact us to make a reverse-commute request.
