The MBTA has announced upcoming service changes on the Green Line in December. These changes may affect trips that connect with our N1: Needham Shuttle, so we want to make sure riders and member companies are prepared.

From December 8–22, there will be no Green Line trains between North Station and:

  • Babcock Street on the B Branch.
  • Kenmore on the C and D Branches.
  • Heath Street on the E Branch.

During this time:

  • Shuttle buses will replace Green Line service between Babcock Street, Kenmore, Heath Street (Route 39), and Copley/Back Bay. A full list of shuttle bus locations is available in the MBTA’s press release.
  • Riders should use the Orange Line between Back Bay and North Station.
  • Accessible van service will be available for Green Line stops between Copley/Back Bay and North Station.
  • MBTA Bus Route 39 and Bus Route 57 will be fare-free.
  • The Commuter Rail Worcester Line will be free to ride between Lansdowne, Back Bay, and South Station. Regular Commuter Rail fares still apply for all travel beyond Lansdowne Station.
